It was a proud moment for the Uhlenberg team on Friday Sept 29th - when our company founder, Mike Uhlenberg was inducted into the NZ Road Transport Hall of Fame.
Mike was a pioneer of line haul and double shifting in the trucking fraternity many years ago, and has spent almost all of his working life in the transport industry. He admits to never having to struggle to go to work when - in all reality his job has been his hobby.
Now well retired but never one to slow down, Mike is still a regular visitor to the depot, often to help out with any jobs or to operate the grader when needed, but also sometimes just to spend time catching up with staff and visitors to the depot.
Mike is a classic example of New Zealand’s road transport characters, he doesn’t like to be in the public eye, but is a person who quietly achieves all that he sets his mind to.
